Biography of the Minister

 amadou hottBorn in Thiaroye station on October 25, 1972, Amadou Hott is married with three children. From primary school to bachelor level, he studied at Khali Madiakhate Kala Primary School in Guediawaye (formerly School 25), before joining CES Pikine Secondary School.

Before joining the Government of Senegal as Minister of the Economy, Planning and International Cooperation in April 2019, Amadou Hott was Vice President of the African Development Bank in charge of the Energy, Green Growth and Climate Change since November 2016. Amadou has over 20 years of experience in areas such as structured finance, sovereign wealth management, investment banking, infrastructure and integrated energy solutions development.

Mr. Hott has held various positions in investment banking and investment consulting in New York, London, Dubai and Lagos. He was director of the Millennium Finance Corporation for Africa, where he was responsible for project finance operations in sectors such as energy, mining, ICT and banking in Africa and the Middle East. He has also been Managing Director of UBA Capital, present in more than 20 African countries, then Founder and Managing Director of Afribridge Capital, an investment firm specializing in consulting services in Africa, where he provided advice in the fields of energy, electricity, information, communication and technologies.

Mr. Amadou holds a Master's degree in applied finance from the Sorbonne University in Paris, in applied mathematics and economics. In particular, he participated in an exchange program at the Master's Program in Financial Mathematics at New York University. He was selected as Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum in 2012.
