DGPPE

The General Direction for Planning and Economic Policies (DGPPE) was established by Decree No. 2014-1171 of 16 September 2014, on the organization of the Ministry of the Economy, Finance and Planning (MEFP) amended by the decree n ° 2017-480 of April 3rd, 2017. Its creation results from from the organizational and functional diagnosis results of the Ministry of the Economy and the Finances (MEF) realized in 2013. By decree N ° 2019-769 of April 08th, 2019 on State repartition services, the DGPPE is now attached to the Ministry of the Economy, Planning and Cooperation (MEPC).

It brings together MEPC's strategic structures in charge of the formulation of development policies and their translation into plans and programs as well as the coordination, monitoring and evaluation of development actions implemented with a view to the relevant management of the Senegal’s economy.

It thus responds to the need for a force of proposal and innovation to enable the MEPC to take better care of the issues relating to the conduct of economic policy in a coherent, relevant, effective and efficient manner with regard to the new economic, social and environmental issues as well as state reforms.

The DGPPE, one of the main technical structures of the MEPC, embodies the orientations of the Government's economic and financial policy in order to put in place an adequate framework for the more effective and efficient implementation of sectoral policies. Its vision and its strategic objectives are in line with the MEPC sector development policy letter (LPSD) which is in line with Senegal Emerging Plan (PSE).

La Direction générale de la Planification et des Politiques économiques, sous l’autorité du Directeur général de la Planification et des Politiques économiques est chargée :

The DGPPE, under the authority of the Managing Director in charge of Planning and Economic Policies is responsible for:

  • the drawing up and monitoring of the State's economic policy;

  • carry out macroeconomic studies and forecasts in the short, medium and long term;

  • translate long-term exploratory studies into strategic directions;

  • seek the best system for translating the Government's strategic orientations into development plans and programs;

  • to verify the coherence of sectoral and thematic policies with the strategic orientations and national priorities in terms of economic and social development;

  • to collect and analyze all information relevant to the decision-making of the public authorities in economic and financial matters;

  • to conduct studies and research on the evolution of concepts and doctrines of development as well as to analyze their stakes and opportunities for the country;

  • to participate in the preparation of the government's financial laws, in particular by defining the macroeconomic framework for budget programming and designing economic and financial reports;

  • to ensure the efficiency, social equity and sustainability of public investments;

  • the development and monitoring of the strategic steering instruments of the economy;

  • to follow the economic integration processes to which Senegal is a party, as well as to coordinate relations with international organizations with an economic vocation.
